PHILLIES NEWS
After 3 straight losses, the Phils were desperate for a win tonight and they got it. Kyle Lohse went a solid 6 and 2/3rds innings, allowing just 2 runs on 8 hits. The Phils meanwhile, got a 2 run homer from Ryan Howard in the 1st inning, a solo homer by Carlos Ruiz in the 2nd inning, a sac fly by Ruiz in the 5th, and finally an RBI single by Aaron Rowand in the 9th inning, to compile 5 runs on 8 hits. With J.C Romero, Tom "Flash" Gordon, and Brett Myers combining to shutout the Braves the rest of the way, following Lohse's exit, those 5 runs were just enough for victory. The Phils thus won 5-2, to improve to 73-65 overall, still 5 games behind the Mets in the NL East, and as of now 2.5 games behind the Diamondbacks in the wildcard. So, life is beautiful once again.
