PHILLIES NEWS

After last night, you would think things couldn't possibly get worse for the Phils, but you'd be wrong. After a fast start, punctuated by a line drive triple play, to end the top of the 1st inning. the Phils loaded the bases right off the bat in the bottom of the inning with nobody out. It was at that moment though, that true shape of tonight's game took hold, as the Phils failed to score even one run off of that bases loaded situation, with Ryan Howard striking out, Aaron Rowand popping up, and Greg Dobbs flying out. From there things only went further down hill. Starter Kyle Kendrick, allowed 7 runs on 4 hits, and then left the game in the 4th inning, with a knee injury, after being struck by a line drive, as if the Phils really needed another pitcher on the DL. Anyway, the Rockies just kept plugging away until it was the 9th inning they were ahead by a whopping score of 12-0. Three weak outs by the Phils later, and they had lost embarrassingly 12-0. The only positive note of the game, is that Micheal Bourn, yes that one, finally returned to the Phils today, coming in as a defensive replacement in the 9th and grounding out in his only at bat in the bottom of the 9th. So the Phils drop to 76-69 overall, now 7 games behind the Mets in the NL East, and 3 games behind the Padres in the wildcard. Thus, life still sucks.
