The Phils continued their 3 game set with the Marlins tonight. Sadly their new standing in first place didn't last long. Cole Hamels got the start and got roughed up again, allowing 7 runs on 8 hits in just 5 and 2/3rds innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils' bats cooled off for once, with just 3 runs on 6 hits. Now onto the game. In the bottom of the first the "Flyin Hawaiian" Shane Victorino doubled and scored on a single by Pat Burrell for a 1-0 Phils' lead. In the bottom of the 3rd Victorino doubled again and scored on a fielder's choice for a 2-0 Phils' lead. In the top of the 4th, Wes Helms slapped a 2 run double and Luis Gonzalez slammed a 2 run homer for a 4-2 Marlins' lead. In the top of the 6th, Jorge Cantu slugged a solo homer and Cody Ross crushed a 2 run homer for a 7-2 Marlin's lead. In the bottom of the 8th, Chase Utley hit his league leading 18th homer to cut the lead to 7-3. Sadly, from there the Phils did not have a final rally in them as Kevin Gregg mowed them down in order in the 9th. So the Phils drop to 32-25 overall and back to .5 games out of first. They'll just have to catch the fish tomorrow.
