After a key series win over the Florida Marlins that propelled them back into first place in the NL East, the Phils welcomed Ken Griffey Jr and the Reds to town for a 4 game set. Kyle Kendrick got the start tonight and got a bit roughed up allowing 4 runs on 5 hits in just 5 and 1/3rd innings of work, but it was good enough to give he and the Phils a shot for a win. Now onto the game. In the bottom of the first Chase Utley slammed a 2 run homer for 2-0 Phils' lead. In the top of the 4th, rookie Phenom Jay Bruce lined a solo homer to cut the lead to 2-1. In the bottom of the 4th, Pedro Feliz and Chris Coste slugged back to back homers, Feliz a 2 run homer and Coste a solo homer for a 5-1 Phils' lead. In the top of the 5th, Edwin Encarnacion homered to cut the lead to 5-2. In the top of the 6th, Adam Dunn slapped a 2 out 2 run double to cut the lead to 5-4. From there Chad Durbin, Flash Gordon, and Brad Lidge combined to close it out for a 5-4 Phils win. So the Phils improve to 34-25 overall, now 1.5 games up on the rest of the NL East.
