After consecutive tough losses to the Cardinals, the Phils returned to the Bank tonight and welcomed the Boston Red Sox to town for an intriguing 3 game interleague series. Cole Hamels got the start tonight and tossed another gem allowing just 2 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings of work. Meanwhile, Ryan Howard launched 2 homers to pace the Phils. Now onto the game. In the bottom of the 1st, Jimmy Rollins slammed a solo homer and Howard slugged a 2 run homer for a 3-0 Phils' lead. In the bottom of the 3rd, Howard crushed a solo homer for a 4-0 Phils' lead. In the top of the 5th, Dustin Pedroia and J.D Drew lined back to back homers to cut the lead to 4-2. In the bottom of the 6th, JRoll slapped a 2 out single, and scored on a fielder's choice, and Howard tripled in a 4th run, to put the Phils up for good 8-2. Finally, in the top of the 9th, Chad Durbin put away the Sox and the Phils had won 8-2 to improve to 42-30 overall. However, they remain 3 games up in the NL East.
