FLYERS NEWS
The Flyers welcomed the arch-rival New Jersey Devils to the Wachovia center tonight for a key divisional matchup. Marty Biron had another solid night in goal saving 28 of the 31 shots he faced, but the Orange and Black couldn't score much either and so Biron's effort went for naught. Early in the 2nd period Kimmo Timonen scored on the power play for a 1-0 lead. Late in the period Zach Parisse tied it up for New Jersey on flukish goal , after Biron couldn't quite cover up a rebound in front of net. In the 3rd period with just under 5 minutes to play Scottie Upshall scored yet another power play goal for a 2-1 lead. For a while it seemed like that would be enough for victory but with just under 2 minutes to play Patrick Elias broke the Flyer's hearts with a game tying tally. From there neither team could light the lamp for the remainder of regulation and the game went into overtime. Just under 3 minutes into OT Elias struck again and the Flyers had lost a 3-2 heartbreaker. So the Orange and Black drop to 12-7-6 overall for 30 points and still 6th in the Eastern conference.
