FLYERS NEWS
For the third game in a row the Flyers were forced to go into overtime, this time against the Carolina Hurricanes in Carolina, to come to a conclusion, and for the 2nd time in 3 games the conclusion was a happy one for the Orange and Black. Antero Niittymaki got the rare start in goal and once again it was a fantastic one with 35 saves out of the 36 he faced. Meanwhile, Jeff Carter scored yet another goal to help lead the Flyers to victory. Early in the first period Mike Richards scored for a 1-0 lead. For a while it looked like that would be the only goal of the night, but just 55 seconds into the 3rd period Sergei Samsonov put the Hurricanes on the board and knotted it up at 1. From there neither team could score for the remainder of regulation and the game went into overtime. There just over 3 and a half minutes into OT Carter scored for the 2-1 Flyers victory. So the Orange and Black move to 13-7-6 overall for 32 points and yes, still 6th in the Eastern Conference. They'll have to actually string some wins together if they want to move up the standings.

Its good to hear that the Flyers won one and that Nittymaki continues to play well. Hopefully they'll get above that 6th place but a playoff spot is a playoff spot
