The Flyers began a home and home with the Boston Bruins tonight at the Wachovia center. Thus far Boston hasthe top record in the NHL by a wide margin. The Flyers were hoping to cut into that margin a bit tonight and prove themselves worthy of the cup. Despite playing them tough for two periods the shorthanded Orange and Black, with Mike Richards, Scottie Upshall, and Braydon Coburn all sitting out with the flu, ran out of steam in 3rd period. Marty Biron saved 30 of 33 shots, in a solid performance, and the Flyers killed 5 Bruins power plays and yet Boston found a way to win, sound familiar?. Neither team could score until early in the 2nd period as Micheal Ryder scored for a 1-0 Bruins lead. A couple minutes later Scott Hartnell tied it up at 1. Early in the 3rd period David Krejci scored for a 2-1 Bruins lead. Finally a few minutes later Denis Wideman made it 3-1 Bruins to put away yet another Boston victory. So the Flyers drop to 26-15-9 overall, but remain 6th in the Eastern conference with 61 points overall.
