EAGLES NEWS
The Eagles made their first important off-season move on the defensive side of the ball today, signing defensive tackle Monte Reagor to a 3 year 8.25 million deal. Reagor spent the last 4 years with the Colts and recorded 10.5 sacks during the 2004-2005 seaosn, so he could turn out to be another shrewd signing by the Eagles front office.
PHILLIES NEWS
Well, the speculation is over, the Phils officially moved Jon Lieber to the bullpen today, which means that Adam Eaton will be the Phils 5th starter this season. However, this does not mean that Phils are going to keep Lieber, he could easily still be traded, if Pat Gillick can just find the right deal, so stay tuned.

It Was Over When....
The 4th quarter began. It Was close for three quarters as the Sixers only trailed by 10 going into the 4th. However, the Pistons scored 14 consecutive points to open the quarter and needless to say that was about all she wrote.

Ronald Murray with 12 points and 7 assists, Tayshaun Prince with a game high 30 points and 6 rebounds, and Chris Webber with 9 points and 7 rebounds.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
50.6, as in a field goal shooting percentage of 50.6 for the Pistons on the night. This is the second game in a row in which the Sixer's opponents have shot 50% or better from the field, and not surprisingly they lost both games.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, at least this time they didn't lose by 50.

Florida's Nathan Horton scored early in the 3rd period to give the Panthers the lead for good at 3-1.

Panther's goalie Ed Belfour with 24 saves out of 25 shots on the night. Not that there weren't any other contributors on the night, but let's just say without Belfour between the pipes the Flyers might of had a shot to win this thing.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
34, as in 34 shots on goal on the night for the Panthers, to just 25 shots on goal for the Flyers on the night. It's like I've said before sometimes simply outshooting your opponent is enough to win.

It started. The Sixers quickly fell behind 32-15 after the 1st quarter and were never really in it.

53.3, as in a field goal shooting percentage of 53.3 on the night for the Rockets to just a field goal shooting percentage of 33.8 for the Sixers on the night. Usually, when you let a team shoot lights out against you, you are not going to win.

The kind of effort the Sixers put forth tonight just won't get it done the rest of the season.

The Phils continued spring training today with another day of 2 games, one with their regular starters and one without any of their regulars. In the first game with their regular they lost 5-4 to the Devil Rays, despite a two-run homer by Pat Burrell, and 6 strong innings out of Brett Myers. In the second game without any regulars they lost again this time 4-3 to the Twins. Still, the losses notwithstanding, the phils once again escaped injury free, and that at least in some good news.

Yeah, the Flyers lost to the playoff bound Senators tonight, but at least they fought them hard to the bitter end and made them earn it.

After 2 straight losses the Sixers needed this game to keep their playoff hopes alive, and so they did as they remain 4.5 games behind the Orlando Magic for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Yesterday they signed free agent WR Kevin Curtis to a 5 year 32 million deal, obviously to help fillthe void left by Donte stallworth. Today, they followed that up by re-signing running back Corell Buckhalter to a 2 year deal.

I don't know what it is, but for some reason the Flyers just can't lose to the Thrashers, in fact they swept their season series with the Thrashers with today's win. If only every game could be against the Thrashers.

Well the Sixers have started a new streak, but unfortunately it's a losing streak. With tonight's loss the Sixers drop back to 5.5 games behind the Orlando Magic for the last playoff spot in the Eastern conference. Thus with only 17 games to play, it seems as if the draft lottery is more likely for the Sixers now than the playoffs.

Kyle Korver sunk to clutch free throws with .8 seconds to play in the 4th quarter. The Pacer's Danny Granger had just hit his 2nd 3 pointer in a row to cut the lead to 98-96, but Korver's free throws put it away for good at 100-96.

It Was Over When....
The 2nd quarter started. At one point during the 1st quarter the Sixers trailed 24-7, and entering the 2nd quarter they trailed 32-18, but by the time the 2nd quarter ended the Sixers had outscored the Nets 31-13 to take a 6 point, 49-43, halftime lead, which they would never relinquish.

9, as in only 9 points scored on the night for Nets star Vince Carter. Basically, as Carter goes so goes the Nets. Thus as Carter struggled tonight against the Sixers tough defense, so did the Nets.
The Bottom Line Is....
This makes 4, count 'em 4 wins in a row for the Sixers, which not surprisingly is their longest winning streak of the season thus far. So although, it's still pretty unlikely that they will be able to make the playoffs, I think it's safe to say that they are now a force to be reckoned with.

Once again no one was injured, and Ryan Howard knocked in a couple runs, this time with a double. Well, in a game with 24 lead changes and 18 ties its hard to find just one stat that defined the entire game, but here goes. 29, as in 29 fast break points for the Sixers on the night, to just 8 for the Grizzlies on the night, 54, as in 54 points in the paint for the Sixers on the night to just 46 for the Grizzlies, and finally 55.6, as in a shooting percentage of 55.6 on the night for the Sixers to a shooting percentage of 47.3 for the Grizzlies on the night. In fact, if not for the Sixers 21 turnovers on the night, this game could have been a blowout.
The Bottom Line Is....
After defeating the best team in the western conference in their last game, it's only fitting that the Sixers would win this game, for their 3rd win in a row, against the worst team in the western conference.

The Phils defeated the Cleveland Indians 6-4 earlier today, for their first spring training win. Once again no one got injured, which is good, but there were also some key performances by some key players. Ryan Howard hit his first homer of the spring, Shane Victorino had 2 hits, and Antonio Alfonseca got his first save as a Phil, pitching a scoreless 9th inning.

Of the Eagles 11 free agents going into this offseason, two have now been re-singed by the Birds. Safety Quinten Mikell was re-upped to a 4 year deal back on Tuesday and Defensive Juqua Thomas was re-upped to a 5 year deal earlier today. Thus, the Eagles continued their current trend of giving promising young players long term deals.

55, as in 55 shots on goal for the Flyers on the night to just 34 shots on goal for the Bruins on the night. So far this season outshooting the other team had not really payed off for the Flyers but tonight it did in the form of 4 goals and a win.

50, as in 50 rebounds for the Sixers on the night, to just 37 for the Suns. Just like last night the Sixers had a massive rebounding advantage and so they won thier second game in a row.
The Bottom Line Is....
Going into tonight's game the Suns had a chance to make history by becoming the first team in NBA to win all of their interconference games without a loss and surely they were going to get the job done against the Sixers, but that as they say, is why they play the games. Tonight, was without the a doubt the Sixers finest hour of the season. Everything that could have gone their way went their way. They held the high-scoring suns to just 94 points and were a perfect 18 for 18 from the free throw line. Basically, they played as well as they could have, beat a really good team in the Suns, and should feel very good about themselves right now.

The Islander's Trent Hunter scored a power play goal with just over 4 minutes to play in the overtime period. The Flyers had rallied to tie the game at 5 at the end of regulation, but Hunter's goal thwarted the Flyers comeback bid.

The Stat Of The Game Is....
1, as in 1 power play goal scored by the Islanders on the night, to 0 scored by the Flyers on the night, despite having 3 opportunities to do so. Basically, the two teams were pretty even from beginning to end ,with the only difference being that 1 power play goal scored by Hunter in overtime.
The Bottom Line Is....
Well, they lost this one, but you know what they might just start winning some pretty soon, since they acquired goalie Martin Biron from the Sabres in exchange for a draft pick. With Biron the Flyers now have 3 goalies with which to rely on, although it's likely that Robert Esche will be traded away at some point. Still, with Biron in the mix the Flyers might be able to turn things around a bit, so who knows maybe they won't be so bad next year.

Sixers 89 Kings 82
It Was Over When....
The Sixers outscored the Kings 19-11 during the final 8 minutes of the game. Beforehand the game had been going back and forth between the two teams, but during these final 8 minutes the Sixers finally got the lead and held it.
The Game Ball Goes To....
Andre Miller with 18 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds, Andre Iguodala with 22 points, 7 assists, and 8 rebounds, and Samuel Dalembert with 20 points and 17 assists.
The Stat Of The Game Is....
55, as in 55 rebounds on the night for the Sixers, to just 40 rebounds for the Kings on the night. Anytime you get a rebounding edge that great you have a good chance to win, and so the Sixers did tonight.
The Bottom Line Is....
After 2 straight losses this is a win the Sixers needed to have and it's not really that surprising since the Kings had been struggling just as much if not more than the Sixers had been lately. Still, a win is a win, so way to go guys and keep up the good work.

EAGLES NEWS
The Eagles resigned quarterback A.J Feeley to a 3 year deal today, which means that he and not Jeff Garcia will be the Eagles backup quarterback next season. In other words, Jeff Garcia will likely be playing with someone other than the Eagles next season. So Garcia mania has officially come to an end and it's time to say good bye to Jeff. So long Jeff, it was great while it lasted, and I'll never forget you.
