The Phils continued their 3 game set with the Braves tonight. Kyle Kendrick got the star tonight and pitched well, allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits in 5 and 1/3rd innings of work. Meanwhile the Phils' bats were again quiet early in the game, leaving Kendrick with little more than a no decision to show for his efforts. Now onto the game. In the top of the 5th, Carlos Ruiz slammed a solo homer for a 1-0 Phils' lead. In the top of the 6th, Pat Burrell crushed a solo homer for a 2-0 Phils' lead. In the bottom of the 6th, Chipper Jones slugged a 2 run homer to knot it up at 2. In the top of the 8th, Chase Utley tripled in a run and scored on a singly by Ryan Howard for a 4-2 Phils' lead. In the top of the 9th, Jimmy Rollins provided some insurance with a two run homer, that pushed lead to 6-2 Phils. Finally in the bottom of the inning Brad Lidge set the Braves down in order to close out a 6-2 Phils win. So the Phils improve to 38-26 overall and remain 3.5 games up in the NL East.
