The Flyers traveled to Boston tonight for a matchup with the Eastern conference leading Bruins. The goaltender carousel continued as Antero Niittymaki got the start in goal and again he looked like the better of the two saving 22 of the 24 shots he faced. Meanwhile, Simon Gagne scored twice in the 3rd period to lead the Flyers to victory. Late in the first period Patrice Bergeron scored for a 1-0 Boston lead. Early in the 2nd period Scottie Upshall scored to knot it up at 1. Early in the 3rd period Gagne scored his first for a 2-1 lead. A few minutes later Mike Knuble made it 3-1. Finally with just under 4 minutes to play Gagne scored his second to just about seal the deal, as the Flyers went up 4-1. Stephane Yelle then scored for Boston with just under a minute to play to cut it to 4-2, but it was too little too late as the Flyer hung on to win by that same score. So the Orange and Black improve to 34-18-10 for 78 points overall and remain 4th in the Eastern conference.

It certainly is good to see that the Flyers can compete with the best, and hopefully they soon will be considered the best.

perhaps but they are well behind all of the top 3 in the Eastern conference, so it could be a while before that happens
