FLYERS NEWS
After a tough loss to the Dallas Stars in their last game, the Flyers traveled to Minnesota tonight to faceoff against the Wild. Thanks to 28 saves out of 29 chances by Antero Niittymaki, and a goal and an assist by Jeff Carter the Flyers prevailed. Early on, it was all Flyers in the 1st period with Scottie Upshall and the aforementioned Jeff Carter scoring to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead. The Wild's Pavol Demitra cut it to a 2-1 Flyers lead with a power play goal in the 2nd period. In the 3rd period Braydon Coburn blasted in a goal from the blue line, for a 3-1 Flyers lead, early in the period. With Antero Niittymaki(Marty Biron got a rare night off), making save after save the rest of the way, the Flyers hung on for an important 3-1 win to improve to 15-9-2 overall and move into a 3 way tie for 1st place in the Atlantic division, along with the New Jersey Devils and the New York Rangers. Now if only they could win a couple in a row now, instead of winning one and then losing one and then winning one again and so on and so forth.
