FLYERS NEWS
Well, apparently the Flyers can't win two in a row anymore. After defeating the Dallas Stars in their last game, the Flyers traveled to Colorado to faceoff against the Avalanche. Like the Flyers the Avalanche have not been very good on the road this season, but they've been cup worthy at home. Thus, it would be the Avalanche winning on this cold Friday night. In a rare defensive battle, the Avalanche's Jose Theodore out backstopped Marty Biron, with 28 saves on 29 chances, to Biron's 30 saves on 32 chances. The First period was scoreless. Early in the 2nd period Jaroslav Hlinka ended the stalemate and put Colorado ahead 1-0. Late in the period, Daniel Briere tied it at 1 for the Flyers, but just 2 minutes later Milan Hejduk made it 2-1 Avalanche. The two goaltenders traded saves from there, as the 3rd period was also scoreless and the Flyers fell 2-1. So the Flyers drop to 15-10-2 and into 2nd place in the Atlantic division behind the New Jersey Devils.
