FLYERS NEWS
The Flyers went with the hot stick tonight in New York, starting Antero Niittymaki in goal for the third straight night. The move paid off as Niittymaki saved 39 of the 41 shots he faced to limit the struggling Rangers to two goals. The Flyers meanwhile, couldn't stop scoring. In the 1st period the Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead, as Ryan Hollweg scored twice early in the period. From there on out it was all orange and black. In the 2nd period Mike Knuble and Stefan Ruzicka each scored early in the period and Scott Hartnell added a late score for a 3-2 Flyers lead. In the 3rd period, Scott Hartnell scored twice early to finish off a hat trick, and Simon Gagne, back at last, added a late goal, his first in 25 games if you haven't heard, to cap off an easy 6-2 Flyers victory. So with this, their 6th win in their last 7, the Flyers improve to 22-15-4, but remain in 3rd place in the Atlantic Division.
