EAGLES NEWS
The Birds wasted no time getting to work in the NFL's free agent signing period, as today on the first day of the period they signed Cornerback Asante Samuel to a 6 year 57 million deal. Samuel was the coveted free agent on the defensive side of the ball heading into this offseason and for good reason. Thus far in is career, playing only with the Patriots he has amassed 22 interceptions , 5 in the postseason, and 2 superbowl rings, not too shabby if I may say so myself. Anyway Sameul immediately, becomes one of the Eagles top two cornerbacks, most likely along with Lito "one more for the road" Sheppard, meaning Sheldon Brown either becomes the Bird's third option at cornerback or moves over to safety to help the aging Brian Dawkins and the upstart Quinten Mickell. Either way it will be to the Eagles benefit.
