FLYERS NEWS
After a crushing 10 game losing streak, the Flyers have now officially rebounded nicely, with this their 3rd straight victory, as they knocked off the New York Islanders. Marty Biron got the start in goal and his dazzling play, saving 33 of the 34 shots he faced, helped push the Orange and Black to victory. In the first period of play, Jeff Carter scored late for a 1-0 Flyer's lead. About midway through the 2nd period of play, Bill Guerin scored for a 1-1 tie. Then late in the period Braydon Coburn scored for a 2-1 Flyer's lead. About midway through the 3rd period of play Mike Knuble scored shorthanded for a 3-1 Flyer's lead. Finally, the Islanders pulled their goalie late in the game, so as to attempt to put together a final rally. Then with just over 30 seconds to play Scottie Upshall scored for a 4-1 Flyer's lead and that was about all she wrote. The Flyer's eventually, held on to win 4-1 and so improve 33-25-7 overall, but remain 4th in the Atlantic division and 8th in the Eastern conference.
