SIXERS NEWS
Not much to talk about tonight for the Sixers. They simply ran into a team more determined to end their losing streak then they were to continue their winning streak, as they welcomed the Phoenix Suns to the Wachovia center. The last time these two teams met, not along ago in Phoenix, the Sixers pulled what was then a surprising upset victory. Now it would not have been much of a surprise, but it was not in the cards for the Sixers tonight. Offensively, five Sixers scored in double figures(Andre Iguodala, Reggie Evans, Andre Miller, Louis Williams, Rodney Carney) with Miller's 16 leading the way. Defensively, the Sixers lagged behind the Suns all night, in a never ending game of catchup, the kind you just can't win no matter how hard you try. In the first quarter of play alone, the Suns raced out to a 19 point lead with score 38-19. In the second quarter of the play the Sixers cut into the lead a bit, taking it down to 17 by the half, with the score 61-44. In the 3rd quarter of play the Sixers finally made some significant inroads, but it was of no use, as the Suns gathered themselves quickly and took a 13 point lead into the 4th quarter, with the score 84-71. Finally, in the 4th quarter of play the Suns kept the Sixer's at arm's length until they could claim a well deserved 14 point win, with the final 107-93. So the Sixers drop to 37-36 overall, and back to 3rd in the Atlantic division and 7th in the Eastern conference, just a half a game out of 6th and 1 game out of 5th.
