The Phils finished off their weekend series with the Pirates late this afternoon after a long rain delay at the onset. Jamie Moyer got the start and pitched well allowing just 3 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils got off to a slow start with just 2 runs through the first 6 innings, and needed a late rally just to get back into the game, but would it be enough? Now onto the game. In the top of the 2nd, Doug Mientkiewicz doubled in a run for a 1-0 Pirate's lead. In the bottom of the 3rd, Carlos Ruiz walked and scored after a pair fielding errors, and Jimmy Rollins slapped a sac fly for a 2nd run to put the Phils up 2-1. In the top of the 6th, ex-Phil Jason Micheals hurt his old team with a 2 run double to put the Buckos back up 3-2. In the bottom of the 7th, Greg Dobbs knocked in one run with a pinch double ,and Chase Utley followed a couple batters later, with a 2 run homer for a 5-3 Phil's lead. In the bottom of the 8th, Jayson Werth walked and later scored on a passed ball for a 6-3 lead. Finally in the top of the 9th, Ryan Madson retired the Pirates in order to close out the 6-3 Phil's win. So the Phils improve to 64-53 overall and are now 2 games up in the NL East.
