The Phils continued their west coast swing in L.A tonight. Cole Hamels got the start, so there was a good chance the Phils would get back on track after a tough loss last night, and early it certainly looked like they would, as Hamels allowed just 2 runs on 5 hits through 7 innings. Meanwhile, the Phils pushed across a run each in the first 3 innings for the early lead. Now onto the game. In the top of the 1st, Chase Utley slammed his 30th homerun of the season for a 1-0 Phil's lead. In the bottom of the 1st, Casey Blake singled in a run to knot it up at 1. In the top of the 2nd, Hamels himself beat out an infield single, allowing a run to score for a 2-1 lead. In the top of the 3rd, Jimmy Rollins doubled, stole third, and scored on a sac fly by Pat "the Bat" Burrell for a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the 6th, Manny Ramirez singled in a run to cut the lead to 3-2. In the bottom of the 8th, a Casey Blake sac fly tied it at 3. Finally in the bottom of the 9th, Andre Eithier broke the Phils' hearts with a one out game winning single for a 4-3 Dodger win. So the Phils drop to 64-55 overall, and now lead the NL East by just 1 game.
