The Phils continued on their west coast trip to San Diego to begin a 3 game set with the Padres. In a battle of 40 somethings Jamie Moyer got the start for the Phils, against Greg Maddux. In the end Moyer outdueled maddux, holding the Padres scoreless through 7, on just 3 hits, while Maddux allowed a run on 5 hits through 7. So as always it would come down to the bullpen. Now onto the game. In the top of the 7th, Pat "the Bat" Burrell slammed a solo homer to put the Phils up 1-0. On this night that would be all the Phils needed, as Ryan Madson, J.C Romero, and Brad Lidge combined for 3 scoreless to finish off the 1-0 Phil's win. So the Phils move to 65-57 overall, but remain 1 game behind in the NL East.
