PHILLIES NEWS

The Phils continued what has been a disappointing trip to L.A tonight. Joe Blanton got the start tonight as he looked to salvage a game for the Phils. He pitched well enough to keep the Phils ahead early, limiting the Dodgers to just 4 runs on 9 hits through 5. Meanwhile, the Phils put up 6 quick runs in the first 2 innings for the early lead. Now onto the game. In the top of the 1st, Ryan Howard and Greg Dobbs each slammed 2 run homers for a 4-0 Phil's lead. In the bottom of the 1st, a bases loaded walk of James Loney cut the lead to 4-1. In the top of the 2nd, Jayson Werth slugged a 2 run homer for a 6-1 lead. In the bottom of the 3rd, Manny Ramirez crushed a 2 run homer to cut the lead to 6-3. In the bottom of the 4th, Andre Eithier smashed a solo shot to cut the lead to 6-4. In the bottom of the 8th, Jeff Kent doubled in a pair of run to knot it up at 6. Finally in the bottom of the 9th, with one out Nomar Garciaparra broke the Phil's heart's again with a solo shot to walk off with the 7-6 win. So the Phils drop to 64-56 overall and are now tied a top the NL East with the hated Mets.
