The finished off their series with the Padres tonight, looking to salvage a 2nd win in 3 days over San Diego. Ace, Cole Hamels got the start and tossed a masterful 8 innings, allowing just 1 run on 7 hits, just when his team needed it the most. Now onto the game. In the top of the first, Jimmy Rollins set the table, with an infield single, stolen base, and a run scored on a sac fly by Jayson Werth for a 1-0 Phil's lead. In the top of the 6th, Pat "the Bat" Burrell slammed a solo homer, for a 2-0 lead. Finally in the bottom of the 9th, Brad Lidge closed the door, retiring the Padres relatively uneventfully for a 2-0 Phils win. So the Phils move to 66-58 overall, but remain 2 games behind the hated Mets.
