PHILLIES NEWS

The Phils continued their series with the Padres tonight. Kyle Kendrick got the start and was roughed up a bit, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits in just 3 and 2/3rd's innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils bats' got off to a good start, but Kendrick could not maintain the lead they built. Now onto the game. In the top of the 1st, Jayson Werth walked and scored on a fielder's choice, and the "Flyin Hawaiian" Shane Victorino singled in a run for a 2-0 Phil's lead. In the bottom of the 3rd, Brian Giles sac flyed in a run to cut the lead to 2-1. In the top of the 4th, Greg Dobbs slapped an RBI double for a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the 4th, Kendrick lost his touch, as Chad Reineke singled in one run, Brian Giles slammed a bases clearing double for 3 runs, and Kevin Kouzmanoff singled in a 5th run for a 6-3 Padre's lead. In the bottom of the 8th, Jody Gerut doubled in a couple runs to cement an 8-3 Padre's win. So the Phils drop to 65-58 overall and 2 games back in the NL East.
