PHILLIES NEWS

After a solid series against the Nats, the Phils got their chance for revenge, as they began a 3 game weekend set with the Dodger's who not long ago swept them badly in L.A. Now however, with Kyle Kendrick on the mound, they could begin to return the favor, as Kendrick pitched well, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits in 5 and 2/3rd's innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phil's bats finally had a decent night, racking up 8 runs on 10 hits. Now onto the game. Andre Ethier slammed a solo homer for a 1-0 Dodger's lead. In the bottom of the 4th, Ryan Howard slugged a 2 run homer for a 2-1 Phil's lead. In the bottom of the 5th, Chris Coste singled in a run for a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the 6th, Jayson Werth knocked in one run with a sac fly, and Chris Coste crushed a 3 run homer for a 7-1 lead. In the bottom of the 7th, Chase Utley slung a solo shot into the seats for an 8 -1 lead. Finally in the top of the 9th, recently acquired veteran Scott Eyre closed out the Dodger's in order and finally the Phils had beaten L.A. So the Phils move to 69-59 overall but remain 2.5 games behind the Mets.
