The Phils continued their weekend set with the Dodgers this afternoon. Cole Hamels got the start, and tossed another gem allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits in 7 strong innings of work. This time however, the Phils bat's gave him ample run support, racking up another 9 runs on 10 hits. Now onto the game. In the bottom of the 1st, Pat "the bat" Burrell slammed a 3 run homer for a 3-0 Phil's lead. In the top of the 3rd, Russell Martin slugged a 2 run homer to cut the lead to 3-2. In the bottom of the 5th, Burrell doubled in one run, and Ryan Howard followed with a 2 run double for a 6-2 lead. In the bottom of the 6th, Burrell singled in one run, and the "Flyin Hawaiian" Shane Victorino slapped a bases loaded single for two more runs, and the Phils led 9-2. Finally in the top of the 9th, the veteran Rudy Seanez, retired Manny Ramirez, Nomar Garciaparra, and Casey Blake in order to close out the 9-2 Phils' win. So the Phils improve to 70-59 overall, are now just 1.5 games behind the Mets in the NL East.
