The Phils continued their series with the Cubs tonight. Joe Blanton got the start, and pitched well, allowing just 2 runs on 2 hits in 5 and 2/3rd's innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils' bats again failed to give him much support, with just 2 runs through 6 innings. So it would come down to the bullpen again to keep things close. Now onto the game. In the top of the 1st, "the Bat" Pat Burrell singled in a run for a 1-0 Phil's lead. In the top of the 5th, Chase Utley singled and scored on an error for a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the 5th, Mark Derosa walked, stole second, and scored on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 2-1. In the bottom of the 6th, Scott Eyre issued a bases loaded walk to knot it up at 2. In the bottom of the 7th, Alphonso Soriano slugged a solo homer for a 3-2 Cub's lead. Sadly, from there the Phils went down fairly quietly the rest of the way, as they fell to Chicago again , to drop to 73-62 overall, now 2 games behind the Mets in the NL East.
