After taking 2 of 3 from the Pirates, the Phils began a west coast swing in L.A against the Dodgers. Kyle Kendrick got the start and was roughed up a bit allowing 7 runs on 9 hits in just 3 and 1/3rd innings of work. Meanwhile, the Phils got off to another slow start, but as usual rallied late to make things interesting. Now onto the game. In the bottom of the 3rd, the Dodgers loaded the bases, before Manny Ramirez and James Loney put together consecutive singles for 4 runs, and Casey Blake slammed a 2 run homer for a 6-0 Dodger lead. In the top of the 4th, the "Flyin Hawaiian" Shane Victorino singled and scored on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 6-1. In the bottom of the 3rd, Jeff Kent singled in a run for a 7-1 lead. In the top of the 6th, Jimmy Rollins scored on a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 7-2. In the top of the 7th, Geoff Jenkins singled in 1 run and scored another on a triple by JRoll to cut the lead to 7-4. In the bottom of the 8th, James Loney doubled in a run for an 8-4 lead. Finally in the top of the 9th, the Phils loaded the bases with two outs for Chase Utley. Utley delivered, blooping a single for 2 runs, cutting the lead to 8-6, unfortunately, Ryan Howard followed with a ground out to end it in an 8-6 Dodger win. So the Phils drop to 64-54 overall, but remain 2 games up in the NL East.
