With their chances of snagging the top spot in the Eastern conference on the line the Flyers played a solid night of hockey in Buffalo, but it still wasn't good enough to secure a victory. Defensively, they held the Sabres to just 29 shots on goal and 0 for 2 on the power play. Offensively, the Leino, Briere, Hartnell line produced another 4 points(2 goals and 2 assists by Briere and Hartnell), and Kris Versteeg added a shorthanded goal. All together though, it wasn't enough to knock off the Sabres who were bidding to clinch a playoff spot. Briere's goal gave the Flyers a 3-2 lead halfway through the 2nd period and they took that lead into the 3rd period. Then Buffalo inserted Ryan Miller into the game and he shut the Flyers down the rest of the way while added a tying goal with 10 minutes left in the 3rd period, and a winning goal just over a minute into overtime. With the 4-3 loss the Flyers can no longer claim the top spot in the Eastern conference, but they still clinch the Atlantic division and finish as the #2 seed by winning their last game.
